#DOXLON November 2017

Our November DOXLON only had a couple of talks this month, both focusing on the culture and success of DevOps in two London organisations, Reevoo and HSBC. However our vertain speakers (who've spoken at DOXLON in the past) really managed to fill up the extra time with some great stories and insights on how they implemented DevOps in their organisations.

Our October DOXLON featured a solid DevOps Exchange line up, covering some very current topics in the DevOps world. We started with Rob Elkin, CTO @ Busuu talking about Serverless, then Matthew Macdonald-Wallace, a seasoned DevOps consultant ranting about how DevOps has been hijacked by marketing and sales teams, and last but not least, Connon MacRae, VP TechOps at Ticketmaster, talking about their journey to DevOps.

Our August DOXLON featured a solid DevOps Exchange line up, covering some very current topics in the DevOps world. We started with Owain Perry and his monitoring solutions at Just Eat. Following Richard Clark took us through how to build a resilient VPC transit network. We closed with Graeme Forbes on the topic of SSL.

#DOXLON July 2017

During our July DOXLON we had three awesome speakers talking about varied topics. Jeremie Vallee from Babylon Health, discussed his journey towards orchestration with a Minimum Viable Docker approach. We also had Federico Fregosi, who talked about Kubernetes and microservices at Curve while diving into the future of the DevOps model. Finally we heard from Jonas Chevalier, who discussed how you can use nix to replace and improve upon Docker for packaging microservices.

#DOXLON June 2017: Container Orchestration Technology

This month's DOXLON had another great lineup for those interested in Container Orchestration and Microservices, including a headline talk all the way from the US via Video link from the legendary Kelsey Hightower, talking about Istio, a powerful service mesh framework for Kubernetes and Microservices. In addition we had great talks from James Rasell talking about the container solution they built at Elsevier using Nomad, and Graem Forbes at Infitity Works who walked us through productionising a new application on Docker on a very tight deadline.

As usual, another great meetup, followed by the usual beers and pizza and pub down the road! Our next meetup will be on July 27th, see you there!

#DOXLON May 2017: Using CodeBuild with Ansible and CloudFormation, and more

This month, we at Outlyer will be doing their first talk since our rebrand, on Docker monitoring solutions and how the container monitoring solution was built at Outlyer.

We are also hearing from our hosts Sainsbury’s, and how they have been using CodeBuild with Ansible and CloudFormation for their complex builds.

You’ll also get to hear how Flypay have been using Alexa (Amazon Echo) to deploy to Kubernetes! After setting up a powerful continuous deployment pipeline that allows you to deploy your products to Kubernetes clusters just using your voice.

#DOXLON Mar 2017—Native, Distributed Storage For Kubernetes, and More

If you were unable to make the KubeCon Berlin, this is another opportunity to hear from Joseph Jacks, one of the founders of Kismatic (the enterprise Kubernetes company, now Apprenda), and a founder of KubeCon. Joseph discussed native, distributed storage for Kubernetes.

We also heard from Bobby DeVeaux, one of our favourite people in DevOps, who presented his most recent project, a production-ready scalable Docker Swarm using Terraform and Packer. Mangirdas Judeikis from Red Hat provided a deep dive to OpenShift and how it works with containers. Cameron Adams took us through how ITV have been using Docker & Selenium to reduce their build pipeline from 4 hours to 40 minutes.

In this edition of DOXLON, Oliver Beattie from Monzo, a banking app, talked us through their network architecture, how they have secured it, and the lessons they've learned along the way. Chris Sinjakli from GoCardless discussed the importance of reliability, and dove into a recent feature for zero-downtime patch upgrades. Last but not least, Ed Hargin and Kyrylo Novotarskyi from TransferWise talked about their move from a monolithic codebase and shared infrastructure towards independent infrastructure management that is better focused on helping solve customer problems.
